Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Digital Sonoma does with personal information in connection with this website and the services described on it. It is written to match how the site actually works: we measure traffic with Google Analytics, which sets cookies, and we run no advertising.

01Who we are
Digital Sonoma is a marketing, design and photography studio working with the wine and spirits industry, with offices in Rohnert Park, California and Guadalajara, Mexico.
For any question about this policy, or to exercise any of the rights described below, write to hello@digitalsonoma.com.
02What we collect
Information you send us. The contact form on this site does not transmit anything to a server of ours — it opens a message in your own email client, which you then choose to send. If you send it, we receive whatever you wrote: typically your name, email address, company and a description of your project.
Information you give us during a project. If we work together we will hold the contact and project details needed to carry out the work, along with the usual commercial records such as contracts and invoices.
Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard request information, which may include IP address, browser type and the pages requested. This is used to operate and secure the site.
03Cookies and third-party content
This site uses Google Analytics 4 to measure how its pages are used. It sets cookies in your browser for that purpose and Google receives the request, including your IP address. We use it to count visits and see which pages are read; we do not use it for advertising and we do not sell what it collects.
The contact form is delivered by Web3Forms, which receives what you send before passing it on to us. The form carries an hCaptcha challenge to keep automated submissions out; hCaptcha receives the request and may set cookies in order to tell a person from a script.
Typefaces are served from this site itself, so no request is made to Google for them.
Some pages embed a silent background video from Vimeo, requested with Do Not Track enabled.
Video is embedded from youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode. No embed is loaded until you press play on a video; once you do, YouTube receives the request and its own terms and privacy policy apply to that playback.
Links to Instagram, YouTube and client websites take you to services we do not control and whose own policies apply once you arrive.
04Why we use it and on what basis
To answer enquiries and prepare proposals, on the basis of taking steps at your request before entering a contract.
To deliver and support projects we have been engaged for, on the basis of performing that contract.
To keep the accounting and tax records we are legally required to keep.
To keep the site available and secure, on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating it.
05Photography and image rights
Photography and video we produce may show identifiable people. Where a shoot involves people who are not our client’s staff acting in a professional capacity, we agree the permissions in writing with the client before the shoot.
If you appear in an image published on this site and would like it removed, write to hello@digitalsonoma.com and we will take it down from our own channels. Where the image was licensed to a client we will tell you who holds it so you can contact them as well.
Commercial licensing of images we deliver is set out in each project agreement, not in this policy.
06Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for advertising.
We use service providers to run the business — hosting, email and accounting among them — and they process information only on our instructions.
We disclose information where the law requires it.
07International transfers
We operate in the United States and Mexico, so information may be processed in either country, and our service providers may process it elsewhere. Where information is transferred out of a jurisdiction that restricts transfers, we rely on the safeguards that jurisdiction recognises.
08How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become projects are kept while the conversation is live and for a reasonable period afterwards, then deleted.
Project records are kept for the duration of the engagement and for as long afterwards as tax and contractual limitation periods require.
09Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can also object to or ask us to restrict certain uses, and ask for your information in a portable format.
If you are in California, the CCPA/CPRA gives you rights to know, delete and correct, and to opt out of sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising any right.
If you are in Mexico, the LFPDPPP gives you ARCO rights — access, rectification, cancellation and opposition — which you can exercise at the address below.
Write to hello@digitalsonoma.com to exercise any of these. We may need to confirm your identity before acting.
10Children
This site is aimed at businesses and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11Changes
If this policy changes we will post the new version here and update the date above.
